Step onboard a traditional African sailing boat for a mesmerizing sunset cruise among the mangroves.
The traditional ngalawa, as these boats are called, is made of a hollowed-out mango tree trunk, has floaters on each side and a simple sail to get it going. Typically these charming boats are used for fishing, but in Diani Beach, you can board one just before sunset. Here, no sails are used, but a guide will row you downstream along the estuary. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine while you watch the sun set over the Kongo River and the nearby Shimba Hills.
